Janice will discuss her new Randy Craig Mystery, Condemned to Repeat, with host Susanna Patchouli, as part of the Varscona Theatre's live and improvised comedy/variety show "Oh Susanna!" on Saturday, June 29, starting at 11:00 p.m. The Varscona is located in the heart of Edmonton's Old Strathcona district at 10329 83 Avenue. Janice MacDonald will be joined by fellow crime writer Wayne Arthurson at the Edmonton Public Library at 1:30 p.m on Sunday, June 30 to read and speak about their books and their craft. Perfect for aspiring mystery writers and crime book junkies who want to learn more about writing in the mystery genre. Author Janice MacDonald is best known for her five novels featuring amateur sleuth Miranda "Randy" Craig. The Randy Craig Mysteries are the first detective series to be set in Edmonton and include 2011's Hang Down Your Head and MacDonald's latest release, Condemned to Repeat (June 2013). Wayne Arthurson is the author of the Alberta Readers' Choice Award-winning novel Fall From Grace and its sequel, A Killing Winter.


Janice MacDonald is the author of nine books, including novels, non-fiction titles, a children’s book and a university textbook. Janice’s stories and essays have been widely anthologized, and her popular Randy Craig novels were the first mystery series set in Edmonton. She has taught English literature, communications and creative writing at both the University of Alberta and Grant MacEwan College. A lifelong lover of history, Janice has previously written a book about the fur trade in western Canada, as well as music and lyrics for touring musical plays about the Canadian railroad and the Lac La Biche Mission in northern Alberta. She was delighted to see both of her daughters work at Fort Edmonton and Rutherford House during their university years.
